Sheets

Sheets of rain are covering the city, dull and gray. Meanwhile, back at the farm, we’re lounging around, waiting for 11 o’clock to roll around to order some food.

Speaking of farms, I just finished George Orwell’s Animal Farm. After reading it, I realize that I should have read it ??before?? I read 1984, sort of as a way to ease into dark politics and a bleak future.

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

So, as promised, here are some pics from our new home on Geoje-do.

Our room, almost complete! All we need is our desk (it’s on its way).

The other side of the room, with a beautiful model!

My wailing, new guitar! It squeals!

TV, books, DVD player, computer - all you need for entertainment.

Here’s the living room. The couch is enormous.

The length of the condo, Une in the kitchen, future father-in-law in the office.

The kitchen. The fridge is filled with kimchi.

Here’s the library, or bathroom. Whatever.

The first shot of our picnic yesterday! From the hills.

The island is mostly this color. Pure green. There’s a little shrine or something keeping the mountain company.

The river, next to which we dined on kimpap and sandwiches!

Une’s shoe.

Then, it was off to the beach!

We make our way down the length of the beach, enjoying the salty sea air.

Some lonely sea vessels, floating by themselves.

Une, ruling over her domain.

Don’t interrupt the master at work!

Admiring the creation from afar.

A ship and an island, the slowest battle.

The land invades the ocean.

Une admires a tree and some buildings.

That’s all for now.

  • Looks like you have a great set-up there. Goeje-do (spelling?) looks quite nice, as well. Not too different than Jeju by the looks of things.

  • Yeah, Geoje is a great place. I’m originally from San Diego, so the weather suits me better here than it did where I previously lived in Japan. I need beaches within close proximity, and that prerequisite is more than satisfied here!

I’m glad to see that you were able to post this time around! I wonder what the problem was.
