I just hit my 100th photo on my photoblog.
With perfect timing, my first photo post-100 happened to my wife’s favorite, and it was posted on the 27th. (27 is my favorite number) The title of the shot is “Tri”:
This was nowhere special. It was at the top of a hill on the way to a local beach. We drive by this spot quite often, but my wife says that she has never seen any part of our city “this way”, which totally gave her a new perspective on a place that she thought she was totally acclimated to. She says she likes it because, if only for one frame, she got to see what our city looks like through my eyes. She seems interested in photography now, too, because I told her I want to see what her eye sees when looking through the viewfinder.

Nice shot! Perfect highlights on the pole, and nice gradients of blue in the sky. I like it! Was this just a single exposure shot?

It’s a single shot, and I applied auto-contrast and curves to it. That’s all.

I noticed you have a ton of sunset shots. I wish I lived close enough to the ocean to go at sunset…maybe when I go back to Hawaii in a few months.

Sunset photos are a bad crutch. You can hardly miss the majesty of a sunset shot.
Lately I’ve been trying to take shots of more obscure locations as an exercise in photography creativity. It’s a good thing for me, even if the results aren’t that amazing.
