Three Keepers

Our Korean class went on a field trip down to the southern-side of the island today, and I brought my camera. Here are three shots.

Fingerprinting in Japan

I want to ask for explanations from those of you who are against Japan fingerprinting foreigners.
Personally, I completely understand why the system is being put in place, especially when you have Canadian paedophiles running rampant through Asia for 3 years.
Are there any cases of fingerprinting gone wrong? All of the complaints I’m seeing on [...]

Expat Bloggers Versus…Inpat Bloggers?

I wonder what sort of ratio exists between expat-bloggers:expat-non-bloggers and non-expat-bloggers:non-expat-non-bloggers.
Nearly every foreigner I know who lives in Japan or South Korea has a blog of some sort. I think the ratio of bloggers is much higher for expats than for non-expats. (What I refer to as ‘inpats’, because the dictionary only lists [...]

Lani Lee Returns

It’s been exactly one month since I last posted Lani stuff, and after getting a guilt trip over it, I finally found the time to throw a couple of clips together this evening after I attended 3 hours of class in the morning and then cleaned the whole hotel by myself since our cleaning lady [...]

An Update to the Brief Review of Radiohead’s “In Rainbows”

The more I listen to the CD, the more it grows on me like a fine, healthy moss. It’s climbed up my original rankings to beat out Hail to the Thief. “Nude”, “Faust Arp”, and “Reckoner” are my favorite tracks. I can’t seem to get into “Videotape”. It’s still not clicking [...]

New Radiohead Album “In Rainbows” Brief Review

I got the new Radiohead album In Rainbows earlier today, and to be honest I was disappointed at first listen. (Go to radiohead.com to get the album for the cost of your choosing.)
I consider “Faust Arp” the best track off the album. Have a listen:

The album is very different from all of their [...]

インテリアデザイン専門学校

Does anyone in Japan have an acquaintance working or studying in the field of interior design? Preferably with emphasis on shop and business design. A heads up and maybe an email address to contact them at would be very much appreciated!

Hamdeok Beach with Classmates

I went out with some classmates this weekend to a local beach. It was excellent. Best beach I’ve been to in my life. The pictures really don’t do the scene justice.
Here we are, the crew, on our way out to the water. I’m on the right.

I have no idea what’s going [...]

The JLPT and why you want to take it, or not

Why do you want to take the JLPT?
I’m going to tell you just a couple of reason why you need to take the JLPT, and take it fervently.
1. If you are serious about learning the language and find that you can’t open a Japanese book once a day for at least 30 minutes than [...]

For Wes Anderson Fans

Did you know that you can download Wes Anderson’s short film Hotel Chevalier for free from the iTunes store? It’s the prelude to Darjeeling Limited. (And won’t be shown in theatres with the feature film.)
(Warning: Explicit Language. Explicit content. Natalie Portman’s ass, to be exact.)
